A Day to Remember: Saturday, May 30, 2020

My wife and I celebrated 43 years of being married on May 30th, 2020. We spent the day together in our rented Miramonte Ranch Condominium in Broomfield, CO. I had finished 3 years of employment at a King Soopers bakery 2 weeks earlier, after having retired from a 35-year teaching and coaching career. You would think that my life was going to be simpler?!

The Saturday of May 30, 2020 was a different kind of day. The country was finally just starting to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Some States were beginning to loosen up. We were still required to wear facemasks when shopping, but some restaurants were beginning to open up with some limitations. George Floyd was killed on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by a group of white police officers, and all hell broke loose.

Laura and I had been to her cousin Lisa's house the night before and, while we were in the hot tub, she mentioned that our anniversary was coming up the next day. I had completely forgotten. The next day we just watched TV, read books and went for a walk.

On that day, there were protests and riots across the country because of the death of George Floyd. The protests were infiltrated by Anifa anarchists and there was a lot of property damage in dozens of cities. On the same day, SpaceX, in collaboration with NASA, launched the first American manned spacecraft launched from American soil since the space shuttle missions a decade earlier.

A day to remember!

What are the factors that led to the revolt (I say "revolt" because that is what I perceive it to be.) that is taking place at this time? 1. The death of George Floyd was the spark that ignited the current events. 2. People have been frustrated by being isolated and unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 3. There is an anarchist movement that has taken advantage of the circumstances to mount a revolt. A Saul Alinsky tactic.

So, there are several groups involved: legitimate, peaceful protestors who believe that they need to make a statement about police violence against black men, etc.: looters, who have been frustrated by their financial circumstances or are just opportunist criminals: spectators, who are curious and may become part of any of the other groups: and, finally, the worst of the groups, the anarchists.

The anarchists are being supported, organized, and used by organizations that want to weaken the United States and institute a change in our form of government. They are intentionally adding to the economic crisis in America. Their ultimate goal is to institute socialism in America.
